Part 1. Name three techniques an author uses to create character and give an example from the story for each one. Answer: One out of three ways an author uses techniques to give people character is to bring up the past. For example in the story is for his grandmother she had a hard life because people came into her house and destoyed everything even her goat, it also told us that they were Jewis. The second would be look at their reputation. In the story Carl had a reputation as being the leader of a gang, so we knew he was probably mean because he wanted to kill Aarons pigeon. The third would be to give a mental picture like in the story they described Aaron in the beginningof the story as a Class A, triple-fantastic roller skater.
No, these are not the ways authors create character. You did mention one - description of the character.
2. Use each of these vocabulary words in an original sentence that explains something about the story. You may change the form of the words.
assassinate -The cossacks assassinated, or attacked by surprise, Aaron's grandmother's family and killed her goat.
stoop- When Aaron was taking the bird home his friend Noreen Callahan, who was sitting on the stoop, or porch, wanted to help
frenzy - In the beginning of the story when aaron met his little friend, the pigion was always frenzied, or wild.
mascot - the gang asked Aaron if her could bring his pigeon to be the mascot, or a symbol.
Trash- In the beginning of the story when Pidge and Aaron first met, the pigeon was thrashing about all the time, but then they got to know each other and Pidge started calming down.
3. Write a paragraph to answer this question. Be sure you relate your answer to the plot of the story.
Can a person "make up" for terrible things that have happened to someone else?
I think yes, because if they are truly sorry for what the have done then i think they should be able to make up for what they ever did. just like how God forgives people that are truly sorry, but only if he knows that they are in their heart. I think that if the person isn't truly sorry then he should not be forgiven. for example in the story when Aaron would'nt let Carl his pigeon into the fire, Carl beat him up, so I don't think he was truly sorry. I think that Carl should have begged for Aaron's forgiveness, then i think Aaron should forgive him if he knows he is truly sorry and won't try anything like it again.
How does this apply to what Aaron did to help his grandmother feel better about what happened to her as a girl? This applies to what Aaron did to help his grandmother feel better about what happened to her as a girl because it made her feel better. Since the bad people killed her goat I think that Aaron made up for it because he wanted to get her a bird to fly around everywhere for her but then the bird ran away and when he was telling his grandmother she said that he was her gift. The exact words she said were,"Thank you for the gift," and when he was going to sleep he thought about what she said and then relized that he was her gift.
